TriMet fares

Fare can be paid with cash, mobile devices, or Hop card.

Honored Citizen include seniors and disabled. A government issued Photo ID is needed for eligibility for seniors and Medicare members. Disabled riders reqire an Honored Citizens ID card issued by Trimet to be eligible for the fare.

Cash/paper tickets

Riders can pay for 2 1/2-hour tickets and 1-day passes on the bus. These and other types of tickets (except monthly pass) can be purchased from TriMet ticket machines at MAX and WES stations.

Passes are also available at the TriMet ticket office at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

2-hour ticket and 1-day passes are available in a book of 10 and 5 respectively. To ride with a ticket from the book, the ticket must be validated at the station before boarding MAX or WES, or validated onboard for Portland Streetcar. On buses, place the unvalidated ticket into the farebox and the driver will issue a transfer receipt valid for the duration of the ticket.

Mobile tickets

Tickets and passes can be purchased and shown through mobile devices with TriMet Tickets app.

Hop Fastpass

Hop Fastpass is accepted for payment on TriMet buses along with MAX and WES trains. To pay fare on the bus, simply tap the card in the Hop reader on the bus near the farebox. When boarding MAX or WES, tap the card on the reader located on the station platform.

Riders with Hop can earn a day pass (daily fare cap) or monthly pass (monthly fare cap) by using the fare with cash value loaded on card without having to purchase a pass in advance.

Riders need to tap every time a trip is taken, even if it is a transfer and that you have earned a day or monthly pass.

Apple/Samsung/Android Pay

Mobile devices with Apple/Samsung/Android Pay can be used to pay fare by tapping the mobile device to the Hop reader on the bus or MAX/WES platform. Only full fare is available.
