Dumbarton Bridge links Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park on the mid-Peninsula with Newark, Union City, and Fremont in the East Bay.


The current base toll is $4, charged in the westbound direction. Carpool vehicles with 2 or more persons can cross the bridge free on weekdays between 5am - 10am and 3pm - 6pm.

Bikes and pedestrians

Dumbarton Bridge has a bicycle/pedestrian trail on the south side of the bridge.

Over the Bridge

The following routes operate on weekdays only. There's no bus service on weekends and holidays.

Alternatives

  • VTA express bus route 180/181 links Fremont and San Jose. VTA routes 22 and Caltrain provide service between San Jose and Palo Alto.
  • AC Transit M provides service on the San Mateo - Hayward Bridge on weekends and holidays.
