Greyhound is a national bus operator.

In the Bay Area, Greyhound can be a suitable alternative for trips that involve multiple transit operators. However, given the long distance nature of the routes, service is generally less frequent and more expensive.

Some of the Greyhound terminals are located at or adjacent to major transit centers. Others are located a few blocks away.

Greyhound service was much less than what it provided decades ago. Many transit agencies are providing connecting service in rural communities with Greyhound bus stops in larger cities. In some areas, transit agencies are still not interconnected and Greyhound (and Amtrak to some extent) is the only mode of connection between these transit operators.
