Muni accepts cash fares and offers various passes. Cable cars have seperate fares.

Cash fares
Muni buses, Muni Metro and historic streetcars

Your transfer will permit free boardings on all Muni vehicles except cable cars for the next 90 minutes. You must keep your transfer as proof of payment when riding Muni Metro.
Cable cars

Special event service
All fares on special event service are for round trip. Primarily designed for tourists. Good on all Muni vehicles.

Other passes or tickets
These passes are either not valid or require an upgrade to ride cable cars. Weekly pass has been discontinued.

Inter-agency fare arrangements
Adult Muni "A" Fast Pass is valid for unlimited travel on BART between any stations within San Francisco (Embarcadero and Balboa Park).
BART Plus tickets are valid on all Muni routes including cable cars.
BART to Muni transfers provide discounted fares on Muni (Transfers issued in Daly City provide free connection). Riders need to use Clipper card in order to receive the discount. Only Daly City Station continues to issue paper transfer inside the BART paid area.
An optional monthly "Muni sticker" can be purchased along with these passes, which offer unlimited rides on all Muni routes except cable cars:
- Caltrain monthly pass
- Golden Gate Transit 20-ride value ticket book
- SamTrans monthly pass
- Vallejo Baylink Ferry monthly pass
Various ferry operators provide free transfers to and from Muni:
- Golden Gate Ferry - Pick up a two-part transfer at Larkspur Ferry Terminal or the Ferry Building
- Alameda/Oakland Ferry - Muni transfers are included in 10, 20, and 40 ride ticket books
- Alameda Harbor Bay Ferry - Two-part Muni transfers are available
