Paying the fare
Pay cash fare at the Muni faregates on the concourse level. The faregates only take $1 coins. You can change your dollar bill to coin at a nearby BART ticket machine. Take the transfer from the faregate and keep it as proof of payment.
If you have a valid pass or transfer, enter at the faregate adjacent to the booth and show the attendant your pass or transfer. You can enter through the swing gate (at the side) with your pass or transfer if there's no attendent at the booth.
Boarding the trains
Proceed through the faregates and enter the platform level. When a train arrives, look at the headsign for train destination.

Cable Car
The terminal for the Powell-Mason and Powell-Hyde cable cars is located on Powell St by Market St. The terminal is a popular tourist spot because the cable cars are manually turned-around there.
You can purchase souvenir cable car tickets at the ticket booth by the turnaround.
